A gang of thieves in Paris has evaded the police, and Leo Verinx and Denis Klein, two police officers eager for promotion, engage in a ruthless struggle to receive a promotion and ultimately take over their boss's position, soon to be vacated. The competition between the two becomes so intense that it becomes impossible to distinguish between their actions and those of the criminal gang being pursued.
